Does QB DeShaun Watson Want a Trade Out of Houston?

The Texans may have a serious issue on their hands according to a report Thursday from Pro Football Talk, which says that quarterback DeShaun Watson may be looking for a deal to get out of Houston.

Houston has tried to do what they can to give Watson everything they can to make him happy, including giving him a contract worth $111 million in guarantees.

The quarterback also will be part of the crew that decides on who the next coach of the franchise is.

How could that not be enough?

PFT says that they have heard that Watson has been speaking to teammates about the possibility of playing elsewhere.

Rumors already are circulating, and we’ve already heard them from multiple different people, that Watson has quietly broached with teammates the possibility of requesting a trade. If that’s happening, it may just be a strategic effort to ensure his views are respected by ownership. Regardless, it raises the stakes and crosses a bridge and potentially sets the foundation for Watson eventually to decide that he’d like to continue his career elsewhere.

To think of the Texans having to start over with a new quarterback in 2021 is not something the team probably even has in mind, but if Watson truly wants out, they are going to have to figure out the best thing for him and the team.

There’s no doubt he would be the most attractive player on the market, and what the team could get for him is anyone’s guess.
