The Texans are 0-4, But O’Brien Doesn’t Seem Worried About the Future

The Texans have played the toughest slate in the NFL to date, but for Bill O’Brien and the team they are not worried about sweeping changes despite sitting at 0-4.

O’Brien said Monday via ESPN that he and the staff need to “do a better job coaching,” he can’t concern himself about his job status because he doesn’t “have any control” over that.

“All I can control is what I can control, and I’ve got to do a better job with the team,” O’Brien said Monday.

“That’s obvious. And we’re going to work hard to do that.”

There’s been quite a few mistakes by the Texans in four games, including being the only team in the National Football League not to force a turnover, and have a minus-five turnover differential.

“At the end of the day, it is what it is,” Texans star quarterback DeShaun Watson said.

“We’re 0-4. We’ve just got to keep fighting, keep pushing forward, and that’s it. But for me personally, I’m not going to let it take my joy. I’m going to continue to live life, continue to work my ass off, continue to come in here every day and play football. It is what it is.

“But at the end of the day my joy, my spirit, my smile, my energy, the love of the game is still going to continue to be there. That’s how I see it.”

Maybe this week will be the week that the Texans finally get a break. The club will be in action on Sunday, October 11th in Jacksonville against the Jaguars, who are 1-3.

“Where we are is not good, obviously, but I do think we have good leadership on this team and we have guys that work hard and they believe in each other,” O’Brien said.

“I think they feel like we’re close and we just need to get a win. But no, I’m not worried about the morale. I think we have good guys that understand what we have to do to try to dig ourselves out of it.”

Texans Nix Scheduled Workout with Safety Earl Thomas

The Texans have canceled a planned workout for veteran free agent safety Earl Thomas, Aaron Wilson of the Houston Chronicle reports.

Thomas arrived Monday for a physical at a local hospital and to start COVID-19 testing.

The cancellation comes as NFL commissioner Roger Goodell sent a memo to team presidents and executives advising them on COVID-19 procedures in the wake of three

“In addition, clubs should revisit the steps they have taken to minimize the number of close contacts, particularly while traveling and within position groups, and should review their procedures for bringing in new players for tryouts and possible signing,” Goodell wrote in a memo obtained by the Houston Chronicle.

Could Free Agent WR Antonio Brown Be in the Texans Plans?

Wide receiver Antonio Brown remains a free agent. The Patriots released Brown during the 2019 season after he played just one game for the franchise.

In the months since his exit from the NFL, the star wide receiver hinted at retirement – several times. However, he made it clear he wants to make a return at some point this season.

On Friday morning’s episode of “Get Up” one NFL insider provided the latest on Brown. ESPN’s Jeremy Fowler suggested the Houston Texans have shown the most interest in Brown so far, Andrew McCarty of The Spun reports.

While Fowler said the Texans have shown interest, he said there is “nothing imminent.”
