Houston Texans head coach Gary Kubiak announced Monday that linebacker Brian Cushing will replace injured middle linebacker DeMeco Ryans (achilles tear) for the team at the middle linebacker position for the rest of the season. Head coach Kubiak cited Cushing’s talent and leadership as his reasons to replace Ryans with Cushing instead of veteran linebacker Kevin Bentley or rookie Darryl Sharpton. Bentley, who underwent arthroscopic knee surgery three weeks ago, will take over Cushing’s former strong side linebacker position. Xavier Adibi will backup Bentley at the strong side position.
