The Houston Texans have tendered former Pro Bowl tight end Owen Daniels, one of their restricted free agent players this offseason. He was tendered at a first round level, requiring a team who attempts to sign him to afford the Texans a first round pick and money to obtain Daniels. On the other hand, the Texans elected not to tender strong safety Bernard Pollard. Pollard was a tackle machine for the Texans since joining the team three weeks into the 2009 season. However, Pollard’s coverage skills were beyond porous on an already outrageously poor pass defense. The Texans also elected not to tender outside linebacker Zach Diles, offensive guard Kasey Studdard, and defensive lineman Tim Bulman. All three had trouble with injuries in 2010.
