Texans LB Jadeveon Clowney Expected to Be Back at Practice Next Week

As the Texans continue to exercise caution with outside linebacker Jadeveon Clowney given his history of injuries, the former top overall pick is expected to return to practice as soon as next week, Aaron Wilson of the Houston Chronicle reports.

However, Clowney isn’t expected to practice during a joint practice session Friday with the San Francisco 49ers or play in a preseason opener Sunday at Levi’s Stadium.

Clowney is making steady progress and is getting over minor soreness in his knee he experienced that prompted the team to rest him, according to sources not authorized to speak publicly.

Clowney hasn’t missed the Texans’ first three practices this week, including Sunday, Monday and Tuesday.

Clowney has a history of knee problems and underwent microfracture knee surgery and surgery on his meniscus as a rookie.
